This 4 1/2" x 6" magnetic placement mat is ultrathin and is recommended for use in the Spellbinders Wizard. It is designed to aid in positioning the cutting and embossing dies and Nestabilities, as well as hold the dies in position as they are run through the Wizard. This allows for more precise and even cuts.
At this point I can not say whether or not they will be compatible with the sandwiches for other manufacturer's machines, but I can assure you that I will be testing them in the week to come to determine whether they will be helpful in other machines on the market, as well as determine if it will affect the sandwich depth.
