Black Velvet® five diamond quality brushes are a unique blend of natural squirrel hair and black synthetic filaments. These brushes are the ideal tools for working with many mediums including watercolor, inks, dyes, liquid acrylics & gouache.

Squirrel hair holds large amounts of color and highly responsive to your touch , which allows for creating shapes beautifully while it releases color with great control. By itself, squirrel is delicate. Blending it with a synthetic helps it to resist wear and maintain a wonderful snap (snap is the ability to retain its shape) and spring. This soft blend allows multiple layer glazing without disturbing previous colors, yet it’s firm enough to lift color with a gentle scrub. Brushes are set in seamless polished black ferrules with gloss black handles.

    Best Watercolor brush on the market.

    I can not say enough good things about these brushes. Always keeps a sharp point holds just the right amount of water.

    Totally LOVE these brushes.

    I know, I know. I talk about them all the time. But in all honesty these brushes *will* help your painting. I use them all the time and they last way longer than brushes I used to use - I recommend an 8 and 12 for stampers - the 12 if you want to do backgrounds or branch out into fine art. The 8 points nicely and can get into small images. (You may want a 4 or 6 if you only use tiny images but the 8 is most verstiile in my opinion!)

    Silver short round #8 watercolor brush

    I was skeptic on spending that much on a watercolor brush but oh my gosh I love it! I haven’t watercolored in years and this brush made it so easy to get back into.
