Creating a Die Cut Beach Scene with Kittie Caracciolo

Posted

Do you love creating die cut scenes? We do too and today Kittie has a great idea for a beach scene starring one of the newest Leading Ladies, Beach Lady (available Sunday, June 10th).

1. Stamp, Emboss and Color Images

Begin by securing paper in MISTI, stamp images with black Versafine ink and emboss with clear embossing powder. I used Hot Pressed watercolor paper for the lady, Candy Heart cardstock for the beach bag and sunglasses and In The Meadow designer paper for the bathing suite.

Color lady using aqua brush and Tea Dye Distress Reinker.

2.Cut Clothes

Cut bathing suite, hat, sunglasses and beach bag using snips. Paper pieces the suite and hat to the lady image and attach with glossy accents. Attach beach bag to hand using glue dots.

3.Sand Layer

Cut a strip of cardstock to use for sand ground piece and color using Antique Linen Distress Ink and a mini applicator.

4. Water and Sky

Apply Tumbled Glass ink to white scene base using an ink blending tool. Create a darker area for the water and then a lighter shade of blue for the sky area. Heat dry the ink and stamp the sentiment using black Versafine.

5. Apply White Embossing Paste

Apply white embossing paste to water area using your finger. Dab lightly to cover the area to create the appearance of sea foam.

6. Apply Glitter

Sprinkle clear Rock Candy glitter to the white embossing paste while it is still damp to create a sparkly sea foam.

7. Color the Seagull

Apply markings on the seagull using a Hickory Smoke Distress Marker.

8. Frame the Scene

Apply double stick tape to the lower portion of the frame and attach the sand layer. Apply thin strips of mounting tape all the way around the back of the frame and attach it to the scene layer. Apply double stick tape to the back of the frame scene and attach it to the card base.

9. Complete the Scene

Tuck grass sections in behind the sand and attach in place using glossy accents. Attach pieces of mounting tape to the back of the lady and purse and attach to the scene base. Attach the seagulls in place with small pieces of mounting tape to finish.
