No Line Coloring With Ink On 3 Fadeout Ink Pad & Carissa Wiley

Learn some tips & tricks for no line coloring with the Ink On 3 Fadeout ink pad!

Hello everyone! Happy July! I can hardly believe it’s July. I’m so glad you’ve stopped by to spend a little time with me today. I’m sharing some fun projects with you and a video tutorial too!

For this month’s edition of the newsletter, I thought I would do a little exploration of no line coloring with the Ink On 3 Fadeout No Line Coloring Ink Pad. This hybrid, acid free, archival ink is waterproof, fast drying and is compatable with your favorite alcohol ink markers, watercolors, colored pencils and dye based markers too! As you lay down color, the ink from the pad takes on the color you lay on top while maintaining the details of the image.

I have to be honest, I haven’t ever tried no line coloring before. I have always been a little intimidated by it. Somehow, I always thought you really needed some true artistic ability to get great results. But I’m so glad I gave it a whirl. It was easier than I thought!

I am using some of the newest stamps and dies from the Essentials By Ellen line for my card projects today. I love the Rainbows N Unicorns and the Inner Mermaid sets released this month. I’m mixing these with the Essentials By Ellen Wonky Backdrops stamp set. This set is so versatile and works beautifully with the unicorns, rainbows and mermaids in this month’s release.

I started by stamping my images in the Ink On 3 Fadeout ink. I chose my cardstock based on the coloring mediums I would be using. For the images colored with the Zig Art and Graphic Twin Markers, I used the Smooth Bristol card stock. For the images I colored in Copics, I used my favorite Neenah Classic Crest Solar White card stock. Paper choice is important for getting great results. Make sure you’re using a paper you know works for the coloring medium you’re using.

As I stated before, this ink will take on the color of whatever you lay over it. With that in mind, be sure you are adding color over the top of the stamped lines. This may feel a little against the grain for you…because we are so used to not coloring over the lines, but I found I had better results this way.

I’ll walk you through the creation of these cards in today’s video tutorial. Be sure you check it out! I’ll share more tips and tricks there as well.

As I mentioned before, I experimented with both the Zig Art and Graphic Twin markers and Copics. For the Copic images, pictured above, I didn’t do any blending. I simply used my markers to lay down flat color. Sometimes I have to remind myself that flat color is okay too!

For the images colored with the Art and Graphic Twin Markers (pictured above), I used the blending pen to blend out the color, and give a more water colored look.

I think I got great results with both types of markers!

I couldn’t stop, so I created one more card featuring the Inner Mermaid stamp set. I love this tail colored in the no line style So, so beautiful. The ink maintained the details of the stamp and took on the color of the Zig’s I colored it with.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you’ve enjoyed these projects. I know I had a great time creating them! I hope you’ll jump right in and give no line coloring a try! You can do it!

Until next time, I hope you have a fabulous day!

XOXO
