Meet The Ellen Hutson Design Team - Carissa Wiley

I love to craft because it brings me joy…and I get to give that joy away to others in the form of a handmade card. Crafting has also connected me to some wonderful people that I have the pleasure of getting to know through social media. I love the community of card makers and paper crafters…many who I now call friends.

I find inspiration everywhere. I love to be inspired by things other than cards. I love to find a picture in a design magazine and let the colors inspire me. I love to look at the patterns and colors in clothing and find inspiration there. Nature inspires me. Inspiration is really all around us, we just have to practice tuning our eye and mind to it. Then when something inspires me, I snap a pic on my phone or jot myself a quick note.

I honestly don’t know how I created without this stamp positioning tool for so long. I pull it out every time I craft to stamp a sentiment…to position my stamps…to ensure I don’t totally screw up. I don’t know how I every got along without it.

It’s a fabulous little die cut machine that gives me great cuts, every time and I have to put zero effort in to cranking! I mean….we don’t want to work too hard while we’re creating. ;)

Nested circles, rectangles, hearts and more…they’re all so versatile and great for layering. I love both the plain and stitched versions. Many companies offer different sets of these types of dies…and you really can’t go wrong with any of them.

I like big cards and I cannot lie. I use foam adhesive on every card to add dimension and depth. It’s a quick and easy addition that definitely packs a punch.

What’s not to love about a pen that you can scribble over anything to make it sparkly?

You can’t be a stamper and not have a great black ink. The Gina K Amalgam ink in jet black gives me crisp, dark black images and it’s so versatile. It works with so many mediums. It’s a one stop shop for black ink pads.
