Meet The Ellen Hutson Design Team - Kelly Griglione

Meet designer Kelly Griglione
Why Kelly Griglione loves crafting

My most favorite memories growing up include staying over at Grandma's house where she always had a craft project for me. Cross-stitch, crochet, sewing, plastic canvas...I always loved working with her late into the night. Now I love having family and friends over to my own house for craft nights! For my personal craft projects, I love challenging myself to find new ways to use supplies. Knowing that the things you make are one-of-a-kind, to one degree or another, is very satisfying.

Where Kelly Griglione finds inspiration for her cards

Of course, seeing a neat technique from someone on Instagram is super inspiring, and can often have me running straight for my craft space. Outside of our crafty world, I find inspiration from anything that has a fabulous combination of fonts (home decor, advertisements, food labels, illustrated children's books). My favorite time to think of designs is in the shower, or while driving. I have a hard time remembering everything so I often keep a post-it note pad nearby.

Kelly Griglione's favorite cardmaking products at Ellen Hutson LLC

The first time I used them and saw how easy it was to get 100% ink coverage, I think I squealed. I was all by myself, hahaha. I also really enjoy using Black Jack ink for stamping outlines and sentiments. Since it's not a dark black, the focus is less on the specific image or font and more on the overall card. My favorite color ink is Mint To Be. It goes with absolutely everything.

When I need a black ink, this is it!!!

The colors are all ones that I use, and are so vibrant.

No surprise, this is probably on most "favorite products" lists. I recently got an additional Misti that I have set up with my return address stamp, and the stamp I use as a hallmark on the back of my cards. Having these always spaced perfectly (and able to stamp again if I miss spots) is SUCH a luxury.

Clear goes with everything.

So easy to clean your stamps off with, and there are no pieces left behind on the stamp to disrupt the next time you stamp (not that this hasn't happened to me a million times...)

An oldie but goodie, this is my go-to adhesive. I love that it rubs off easily if you change your mind.

There's nothing worse than a die cutter that isn't quite right, and you have to spend forever figuring out shims of different thicknesses.

I always love embossing sentiments in white or gold!
